On one mission Kincaid, the president of the MC, meets Emmalyn. He's insanely attracted to her but feels defeat when he realizes she's married. He makes a split decision when he see he being hit.Emmalyn was alienated from her family when she got together with her husband. Bobby was abusive and didn't want her to have anyone to turn to. She had no friends and was forced to work in a bar. When she sees a new guy with the group of bikers that have been coming into the bar she's struck by how he makes her feel with just one look. She doesn't hesitate when he wants to take her away.
Kincaid is sweet and strong. He'll do anything to keep Em safe from any harm. Emmalyn has been through a lifetime of hell. Can she really trust anyone, even Kincaid? She has so many insecurities to overcome and that won't come easily for her. She can't imagine anyone could be good, respectful and protective towards her.
This is written in dual pov and we get good background on both characters. I love the supporting characters as well and I hope we get stories on Kid and Shadow as well!

I really enjoyed reading Emmalynn's and Diego's story. I love a sexy hot MC read and this one did not disappoint. What even made you love Kincaids "family" is the type of work they do. It's dangerous but for the right reasons. I really was so happy and grateful when Em was saved and given another chance. She is such a strong women and we got to go on the journey with her as she starts to build,d and enjoy happiness. There are a few bumps along the rode but you were rooting for her and Diego and glad when he fought for her.
So glad that. Bastard of her ex got what he deserved and Em can really enjoy living and not have to look over her shoulder.
This book was well written a deadly to read along with and really had you falling for all the characters. I was definitely e cited to see that book two is about Kid, he is one that I have fallen in one with and want to know more. He was such a " younger brother " for em and he,led her along her journey!

Emmalyn Mikaelson works at Drifters Bar because her abusive husband Robert likes the money it puts in her pocket. However working under his watch she knows no matter what she does in the end it will result in a beating. How bad ... that's always different. Her latest beating that has left her wearing hidden bandages was because he found the money she was hiding from him. Her last hope to get out and get away. The three bikers that have been coming into the bar have always been kind to her .. well except for the one who is a creep but the two others were super sweet; Shadow and Kid. Tonight there are four and the one who just walked in ... he has never been with them and she has a terrible feeling about her night and she is right on the money.
Diego "Kincaid" Anderson has just taken his team in. Cerberus MC (all former military and an MC that specializes in recon and recovery) has been helping the Denver PD they have found Joselyne Bennett alive which is a huge surprise. Thankfully he won't have to tell his cousin Kaleb the news he thought he was going to; certain his team would find Josie dead if they ever did find her body. Heading over to Drifters to check out the "hot waitress" the boys have been telling her about Kincaid doesn't stand a chance. A tortured soul who not only is broken and battered is still beautiful and also married ... most likely married to the ass that is sitting at the table she can't quit watching with fear in her eyes. One moment changes everything ....
I really liked this first release as the characters are right up my alley. There were great descriptions of the additional characters I hope to see more of down the road but I also was confused about Kaleb and Josie. If someone knows if they are from another series let me in on that because most likely I would love that set of releases as well! I also love the fact all of these men are former military. At the end of the book we see the MC come together and bring a strong message to the front of what needs to happen every time a slain soldier comes home. LOVE!
On the down side, Emmalyn drove me nuts. I didn't like the fact that she wasn't written as a strong character as I like to see women come out fighting. There were numerous times I wanted Diego to just walk away ... GRRRR. All in all though the writing is solid, it kept me turning the pages and it was a really good read. Its my feeling that this series will only get better. Bring on the next man Marie!

Doc -- Oldest member of the club, Rose is his old lady who have been married for over twenty years
Blade - Served in the Marine's with the boys but lives back home with his family in KY; coordinates all of the jobs the boys are called out to
Shane Jones -- not a part of the MC; he's a Detective
Other secondary characters we met briefly -- Ace, Snatch, Gypsy, Snapper

Why did I wait so long to read this book?? I love biker romances and this one, while it had a lot of the same elements as most of the others I have read, also had a lot of sweet and goodness mixed in with the ugly.
An MC made up of ex-military men who fight for what's right and rescue those in peril sounds like a good thing (although I wasn't a fan of the club whore situation) and with the exception of a few small issues and a heroine who could be a bit too wishy-washy at times, I really enjoyed this story and read it in one day.
Lots of violence, steamy sex, emotional moments and nail-biting intrigue. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

This isn’t your typical MC novel and I think that’s what made me enjoy it so much. There’s clubish drama, but these guys as like black ops, and have that family feel of an MC novel, why doing what they can for those around them. Add in hot sex, totally alpha hero, great secondary characters, suspense and some action..... that made this book hook me from the start.
This was my first book by this author and while there was the subject of abuse, the author did an awesome job with it. I do with that the end had been more drawn out. While pretty much everything was settled, I felt like something more was going to happen and the end came to fast and wasn’t In-depth enough for me. O do plan to read more because I really liked Kid and can’t wait to read his book. 4 Stars #2OCCJD
